The City of Owensville in 2009 implemented a Public Works Director that oversees the daily operations of the municipal utilities including the city water/sewer system along with the city street department.  To contact City Hall call 573-437-2812.

Streets Department

City streets are maintained by the Street Department.  Sidewalks and curbing are the responsibility of the property owner.

Snow Emergency Routes:  It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle on the designated streets during a snow emergency.

Repair and Maintenance:  For repair and maintenance to the city streets, contact the Public Works Director above.

Full Time job opening:
The Public Works Laborer is a non-exempt, hourly position supervised by the Public Works Director. Primary duties of this position include the maintenance of city streets, the city drinking water system, and sanitary sewer system, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must have a valid Missouri Driver’s License. The City of Owensville offers a very generous benefit package.

FAQ

City Hall is open from 9:00 am- 5:00 pm. 

All utility payments can be made in person, by telephone with credit card or in our drop box.

To report an issue with water & sewer lines or street issues during normal business hours call (573) 437-2514, after hours call (573) 437-7770 so the department can be dispatched.

Water and/or Sewer service shall be applied for through the Owensville Municipal Utilities Office.

A deposit of $100.00 is required at the time of making the application for water and/or sewer service.. * Must pay in-person at: City Hall 107 W Sears Ave., Owensville, MO 65066

The deposit will be held by the City as security and returned to the customer when the service has reached the last billing cycle, as long as all the bills owed by customer have been paid in full.

No owner of real property will be required to place a security deposit for services.

Billing cycles run from the 10th of the month to the 10th of the next month.  Each bill is due by the 15th of the following month. 

Utility services charge shall be considered delinquent if not paid in full on or before the 15th day of each month. 

A late penalty of $10.00 will be assessed each month the account is delinquent. 

Any account which is not paid by the 23rd shall be disconnected for non-payment with no additional notice. A $25.00 charge is due for reconnection of services.

Natural Gas Utility

Ameren UE maintains and supports the Natural Gas service provided in the City limits of Owensville.  Contact Ameren at (800) 552-7583 for more information.   For public emergencies, dial 911.

Trash removal is the responsibility of the property owner or renter. 

Per Ordinance No 1224, Effective October 1, 2016, all residential users will be required to use Swinger Sanitation for solid waste & recycling collection and disposal.  If you have any questions about the ordinance, please call City Hall 573-437-2812.  To acquire solid waste and recycling services, please call Swinger Sanitation at 573-885-7596.
