Owensville Rural Fire Protection Association (ORFPA):
The ORFPA was formed in 1946. The State of Missouri authorizes the formation of rural fire protection associations for the purpose of furnishing fire protection in areas not covered by special tax districts. The current membership fee is $58.00 annually.  The fee helps pay for the mandatory training required of volunteer firefighters.  Property taxes do not pay for rural fire protection. ORFPA is always looking for donations and additional members to help cover operational costs. The ORFPA can be reached at PO Box 202, Owensville, MO 65066 or call 573-437-4308.

The State of Missouri sets fees for rural fire protection associations responding to fires of non-members. The fees are $100.00 plus $500.00 per hour until the equipment is back in firehouse and available for service. There are similar charges for ORFPA to respond to motor vehicle accidents of non-members. Every farm or dwelling located outside the corporate limits of Owensville that is not a member with the ORFPA are subject to the above fees, in additional to the monthly assessments. That would included property located outside the city limits such as Landwehr subdivision, Peaceful Valley Lake, Rolling Homes Trailer Court and any others that current are outside the city limits. Membership is required for each piece of property owned. Applications are available at City Hall as well as insurance offices located throughout the City of Owensville.
