The City of Owensville in 2009 implemented a Public Works Director that oversees the daily operations of the municipal utilities including the city water/sewer system along with the city street department.  To contact City Hall call 573-437-2812.

To report a water or sewer outage or break call (573) 437-2125 during normal business hours, after hours call (573) 437-7770 or 9-1-1 for the department to be dispatched.

City of Owensville Water & Sewer Rates. Effective July 2007.

WATER:  The City has approx. 28 miles of water lines ranging from 4" to 10" water lines.  The City has 4 deep wells and 4 water towers.  The City has 2 tanks that hold 300,000 gallons, one tank holeds 150,000 gallons and one tank holds 75,000 gallons which provide a total reserve 825,000 gallons between the 4 towers.  The City provides water treatment and chlorination

SANITARY SEWER:  The City has approx 35 miles of sewer lines ranging from 4" to 18" pipe.  The City has a Lemna Technology System that consists of a fine screen to take out some colids, a complete mixing cell, two partial mix cells, a setting area, a polishing area, and utra violet disinfection.  This system is loacted at the City waste water treatment plant off Baker road.

Streets Department

City streets are maintained by the Street Department.  Sidewalks and curbing are the responsibility of the property owner.

Snow Emergency Routes:  It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle on the designated streets during a snow emergency.

Repair and Maintenance:  For repair and maintenance to the city streets, contact the Public Works Director above.

Application for Service

Water and/or Sewer service shall be applied for through the Owensville Municipal Utilities Office. 

A deposit of $100.00 is required at the time of making the application for water and/or sewer service..

The deposit will be held by the City as security and returned to the customer when the electric service has reached the last billing cycle, as long as all the bills owed by customer have been paid in full.

No owner of real property will be required to place a security deposit for services.

Billing / Disconnection

Billing cycles run from the 10th of the month to the 10th of the next month.  Each bill is due by the 15th of the following month. 

Utility services charge shall be considered delinquent if not paid in full on or before the 15th day of each month. 

A late penalty of $10.00 will be assessed each month the account is delinquent. 

Any account which is not paid by the 23rd shall be disconnected for non-payment with no additional notice.

Natural Gas Utility

Ameren UE maintains and supports the Natural Gas service provided in the City limits.  Contact Ameren at (800) 552-7583 for more information.   For public emergencies, dial 911.

Refuse/Trash Collection

Trash removal is the responsibility of the property owner or renter. 

Per Ordinance No 1224, Effective October 1, 2016, all residential users will be required to use Swinger Sanitation for solid waste & recycling collection and disposal.  If you have any questions about the ordinance, please call City Hall 573-437-2812.  To acquire solid waste and recycling services, please call Swinger Sanitation at 573-885-7596.
